These were taken in Springdale one morning when I was unable to rouse both my father and brother. Sigh. Who would have thought that the best sunrise of the trip, and possibly one of the best I have ever seen, would be spent near a hotel parking lot???

James

Looking East: Sadly, this is a sunrise searching desperately for an anchor.

Looking South: My favorite of the two. I found the shape of the rocks intriguing from the moment we got there.

Sometimes you just take em where you get em! I get a real Mount Doom feeling from the first one. Just missing the "eye" (which would have made a great anchor) .

Nice work.

Hey George,

Thank you. It is rare that such sunrises occur. It was intense. Honestly, it would not have been as good from where I wanted to be for that morning...BUT it may have been more recognizable to folks here, which would have been cool. The second shot of mountains I also find quite interesting.

Wow James! I tend to think of sunrises -which I too miss far too many of- as somewhat muted or subdued color wise. Not this one. I guess I'm gonna have to get my butt out of bed a lot earlier.

Good job.

Jim
