Each year, I review my images and select the ones I feel represent my best work in various categories. While I work professionally as a dog show photographer, pet portraitist, and occasionally as a wedding photographer (Lord save me) I also photograph nature and wildlife for my own enjoyment and I take lots of shots of my own dogs and those we've bred to share here and with our friends and on FaceBook.
The first category I'd like to share with you is Action Photos. Some of these were taken in my back yard and others at local theme parks and nature parks. I also take a ton of images of dogs working at Herding Trials or moving in the Conformation ring. So I spend a lot of time in AI Servo on my Canon 7D
.
First up is my first choice in Action Photos: this is our 2-year old boy Scampy giving me an all-out "recall" in the back yard. This boy is very athletic and has a joie de vivre that is infectious. We love him. Shot at F7.1 and 1/400 @ ISO 2000 at 370 mm.
My number two choice is this shot of two Red Shouldered Hawks discussing territorial issues at Orlando Wetlands Park. Shot at F8 and 1/1250 @ISO 250 and at 280mm.
Number three is actually a two-shot sequence of a Red Winged Blackbird dive-bombing a Red Shouldered Hawk who had just tried to raid its nest. Shot at the same setting as the prior image.
And my fourth pick is this shot of White Cheeked Gibbon juveniles playing in the trees at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Shot at F7.1 and 1/400 @ISO 800 and 280 mm.
Tomorrow, I'll share some of my butterfly favorites as well as my pick show formal from the National Specialty I shot this year.
