Here's a few shots of some Aussie Shepards; just a gorgeous breed. They were remarkably well-trained, and therefore a pleasure to pose. I used the 70-200, tripod-mounted, for these - I wanted to compress the features and blur the background to remove any distracting elements. All natural light, in the late afternoon.

The first single portrait is cropped a little tight as-shown, but I loosened it up a bit on the print.

Chris the action shot is great. And the poses are lovely, as you say good subjects are a pleasure to work with, - but you still have to do the work. What was the owner' reaction? Hope they will be taking some prints for framing.

Beautiful dogs- beautiful coats. Number 1 has blue and brown eyes, interesting. Nice work on the poses. I have a Blue Merle Aussie myself, so I am biased!

Hey Chris,

Very nicely done shots - all of them. I am curious about the one of them running though - I am assuming that this was on board flash to freeze them so perfectly?

Thanks everyone! Glad you like! They're gorgeous dogs, I think. Doesn't hurt to have handsome models.

PossumCorner, the owner was happy!

Marty, post some pics! I'd love to see more of this breed - Jeff, those shots are great!

James, I froze 'em with a wide f-stop (f4, I think), and panning with them. The light was good, so the exposure was just under 1/1000 - plenty to freeze them, with no flash. I was on the ground, prone, for that one.

My 5 yr old, Jazzy Blue Eyes, a real movie star

My first mate, Gazoo. Hard to see, but one blue & one brown eye..

Gazoo, waiting for her Dad

Am I in trouble again? (JB)

On a hike - they are on leash outside, we are afraid of cars, otherwise

Gazoo, my first dog, age 15 here. I miss her all the time, she became ill this last winter.... we still have Jazzy Blue Eyes, whom she trained well for us.

My sister in law is a well known Austrailian Shepard Breeder and show judge in California, if anyone is interested, PM me. I understand she has a litter due soon.
These dogs have enlightened my life beyond words.

Thanks for looking- not my best pics technicaly, but my best friends ever in this life, and best pics for me.............

Thanks for the info. I had thought that the light looked a bit strong, so I assumed that it was flash. Having said that, the shot is GREAT.

Cheers
James
