Hi Nolad,

Jackson, in my opinion, is best for its sunrise locations. It has a bunch of iconic sunrise places within 30 minutes of Jackson (hour and 15 tops to some locations).

Places close to Jackson for sunrise include:

1. The Moulton Barn/Mormon Row.
2. Jenny Lake has a bunch of great views, and you don't see a ton of them all of the time.
3. The overlooks - there are a bunch. Snake River is where Ansel took his iconic shot. Tree growth has killed that shot, but there are other options.
4. Oxbow Bend - the longest ride from Jackson.
5. Schwabacher's landing. One of my favorite sunrise locations - but be warned, it is incredibly photographed and there is little space to get 'the shot' from. I am often there 2 hours before sunrise.

For sunsets - its harder, but they are there.

1. The Sleeping Indian - from the Museum parking lot
2. The Barn is also great at sunset.
3. Oxbow bend, even though it is in silhouette, can be just beautiful.
4. The marsh near the Elk Refuge can also be very pretty at sunset (and I have had really nice sunrises too).

Mid day places? Get off onto the trials and off of the road.

1. Jenny Lake
2. The Hidden Falls (about a mile up)
3. Yellowstone

Hope this helps.

James
