Zion National Park / Utah - 07/30/07 12:50 PM

As the sun sets while hiking in the "Narrows" at Zion, some of the canyon walls appear to be lined with gold.

Hi Nolad,

Very nice. I have seen similar shots tho this one on the 'net, but I like the heavy shadows and brigh highlights along the wall.

How far is this from civilization?

Not too far, it's very worth the drive. We spent 2 days hiking in the Narrows. 3 hours of hiking in one direction will get you to a point where you can touch the canyon walls with outstreached arms. 70% of the time is spent walking in the water alittle less than waist deep. Plus there are other hikes "up" as well.

That is really cool. Did you bring hip waders with you?

No, you just plan on walking in the water with your shorts on and of course an old good pair of hiking boots (lots of rocks on the river bottom)
