Mountain Rain

Mountain Rain - 10/26/07 01:14 PM

Hey Guys,

This is a shot that I have not posted anywhere else that I am quite fond of. It was taken in the midst of a rain storm. Chanthee and I liked the way the cloud line seemed to hug the mountain range. I was just looking at one of Chanthee's the other night and hope that she decides to post hers as it is a nice shot of the entire range.

Cheers
James

I like it james, a lot. I love conflict and contrasty weather shots. sorry it's taken me so long to see this, I've been out a lot shooting. . .

If there is a "problem" with the image, it's this, There's no real subject or vanishing point, my eye looks at the shot shot then wonders around like there's no subject.

that said, wondering eyes are not always a bad thing, espcially if your wife's not with you - LOL okay, that's off toppic, but really, it's okay to let the view's eyes wonder, but I think the most powerful landscape images have a subject or some flow that draws your eye to a final place. Maybe it's the crop, I dont know. but nonetheless, i like it. . .

james, i looked at it again, and I like it better the second time. My eye is drawn to the mountain in the background. the dark top and bottom focuses me to the background and helps give it depth. . . I dont know what I was looking at the first time. . . I also decided to leave my first post, instead of editing it, so that you and other's can see how time of day, attitude, and the stars all influence how we look at things. . .

I like the contrasts of the sky against the clouds - grounded with the mountains. I think the overall softness really adds to the weather / rain. The different levels of light/ contrast do seem to add depth.

Thanks all. I did not publish it earlier because I was not 100% sure about it. It is prettier in print, some how, than it is on the screen.

Chanthee has been working on her first story (Yeah, Chanthee), and I hope that she will publish that photo in that group.
