Wow, nice work james! Thanks for sharing those links!

It's very very snowy out here in Glacier National Park. It's been snowing here for about a week, here's my little bungalo and a shot looking into the park from in front of my house, taken just this morning, 2/1/08.

If you like snow, I've got a place for you. Here is a pic of my cabin up near Donner Pass in CA. This is usually what it looks like about this time of the year. This area consistently gets some of highest snowfall in the Sierras. It is not unusual to get 15' of snow and in bad years we can get 20 (that's on the ground). Of course the skiing is fantastic. I guess you can see what the Donner Party was up against. Unfortunately, we're not going to make it up there this winter, but I hear the snow is great.

That is pretty remarkable, guys. I have heard that much of the West has gotten pounded this year. Unfortuantely, we have had - at most - a few inches the entire year. I have been so busy that I have not been able to make any escapes. I am getting a bit stir crazy.

We only have about 3 feet of snow this year because it has been so cold. It has been around -20F for a week now.

Oh George! I really would like to copy and send this to all the people around me who are complaining about our forecast. We are suppose to get another foot tonight and frankly Chicago is getting its fair share of the white stuff. I would love to see how you piled it this high. Thanks for the posting.

Northern Utah has been getting hammered with snow - 02/08/08 02:25 AM

I live about an hour north of Marty and we've been getting guite a bit of snow this year. I shot this for me wife to send to friends last Sunday. The storm dumped over two feet at the house, by the time it ended there had to be at least another foot on top of what this picture shows. Oh yeah, they are standing on/in the front sidewalk.

This cabin is about 5 minutes from the house. This was shot 9 Dec:

and this 4 Feb:

No drought this year

Re: Northern Utah has been getting hammered with s - 02/09/08 04:49 PM

LOL - maybe not for you guys. We have had - at most - about 3 inches of snow here in NYC. Late December through mid-January was very cold here as well. It is very frustrating.

As to the amount of snow on everyone's houses...That is just amazing. I would be concerned that the roof will come down.
