New kid on the block.

After a life time of being out of the loop in the horse world, I've sort of fallen back in. This Shetland Pony was surplus at the property he was kept on, he was only there as a paddock-mate to keep some show horses company and no longer wanted or needed.

I don't plan to ride him, just keep him healthy and with some luck train him as a harness pony in the future, he is only aged seven. He is a feisty pony and they could not place him anywhere as suitable for children. He is branded (Stud Book breeding) so I could show him in harness or led classes if I had the time to go that way. This snapshot is at his home paddock, couldn't get close enough to put a hand on him. Be a shock to his independent little system next week when he comes home to live in a pony yard and learn about manners and such.

Cute pony. I think Shetlands are the onery-ist of all the pony breeds. Very smart and very independent. I think every kid who rode one has funny stories of being bucked off, run aways with or scraped off on trees

He's beautiful and will be a fun subject for your photos. Love his mane. Let us know who ends up training whom.

Congrats on your new pony, PC. Good luck training him, I hope the process is not too difficult for either of you. I have never had much experiences with horses before, but I am told that it can be quite difficult to train them at first.

HE's very cute PC!
Remeber that, when you are working with him and the phrase;
"You're lucky you're so cute", comes into play!
This spring I'm devoting to puppies and getting my Dales pony hitched up to the carts I've been collecting..
Funny...guess I put the cart before the horse.
