Our lastest addition

Our lastest addition - 10/13/09 08:07 PM

Front and center, this old girl was kicked out of the house at 8 or 9 years old, literally.
I'd introduce her, but she is almost asleep:)

Thanks for taking her in, Jeff. She looks as if she's adapted pretty well. I love puppies but the old guys really make my heart sing. They grow old so gracefully and manage to adapt to anything life throws at them. May she fill your house with love for many more years.

Thanks Jim and Julie,
They are great. The big guy on her right him is 5 now we got him at 3.5, and what a great dog. The little one in the back was the "mistake" We were her 4th home in 7 months. That was 2.5 years ago now. MaryAnn, this newest arrival will be in the house for 2 weeks come Thursday. I agree, puppies are nice, but MaryAnn is house trained and know to chew bones and has some social skills:) We have a thing for the seniors.

Jeff,

Thank you for sharing your photos and for having a space in your heart for one more beautiful senior. My heart sings when I see a boxer and I am so glad she was able to find you. Right now I have a very, very old beagle that found her way to the house after being dropped in the woods to try to make it on her own. She would have never made it as she had some health issues that needed attention and thank goodness I have a vet that understands what it takes to take care of older dogs. May you and your companions have many happy days.

What a wonderful way to add an addition to your family. May she bring you loads of joy for being such a compassionate person. You have indeed brought her joy!

Lucy and Peggy, Thanks!
The big guy was 3.5 when we got him. He had his lack of training, but I swear these old guys seam to learn faster then the puppies:) Sure it is always nice to have that “moldable” youngen to work with, but these older ones are just easier. Maggie, was the youngest we’ve had in the house in a long time, at 7 months, it was young enough for a long time:) She still has to mush energy, but we did bring her in a few years ago to keep our last senior boxer moving.

She tried.

I love senior dogs and the stories they have to share. I used to be a vet at the Nashville Metro shelter - I was always so relieved when a deserving senior pet was adopted. Thank you for recognizing what a senior dog has to give.
