Unusual cat from show last weekend

Unusual cat from show last weekend - 06/16/10 05:25 AM

This is a Bengal Cat that I saw at the show this weekend and asked the owners to bring in for me to shoot. They are friends, and this cat is nephew of one of my cats. She is just stunning. She is genetically a seal mink spotted but this color is often referred to as "charcoal mink" or "charcoal snow". They are not very common and the genes that cause the markings to be much darker than normal is not completely understood, although there are a few theories.

Thanks Julie! I think the extreme contrast on her face and fat pink nose make her rather wild-looking.

Diana,

Beautiful photo and what a stunning Bengal! I've never seen a Bengal even remotely similar. She's just beautiful. Her face is VERY exotic and reminds me of an ocelot. Thank you for sharing this photo!

Thanks again everyone. Tammie I think it is the extreme contrast on the face that makes this particular coloring so wild looking. The wild cats have true white and true black markings on the face which is very intense, and the more extreme the light and dark are on the domestics, the more impressive the effect.
