The light in my life is gone.
I adored this girl more than words can say.

Thank you James. Those of us that care so deeply for our companions can understand how difficult it is to lose them.

PeggySue,
yes, we do understand and we mourn your loss with you. They fill our lives with joy and, after they are gone, they fill our memories. I often think how empty my life would have been without the ones that have left us.

Hugs,

Jim

PeggySue,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Words can't really help, but if I were there I would give you a big hug.

Preston.

Thank you Jim and Preston for the kind words (and hug!) It really is amazing how the waves hit and the ones who have touched us so deeply feel like an ocean. Don't know where the actual cockles of our hearts are, but Polar is there forever.

Peggy:

I think that many of us who hang out regularly at NWP have a bond with our animals that is stronger than with most humans. I know I do, and that is why I think you are 100% correct. We certainly do understand.

They bring us so much joy and ask so little in return.

I am truly sorry for your loss.

Re: I know you will understand - 04/02/11 01:42 AM

Thank you all so much for the kind words. We are very lucky to have that bond. I do realize that then sets us up for the pain of loss. I wish I was rip van winkle right now to sleep through this grieving process.
I have heard clients say that they will no longer have companions since the pain is to much to take. I never thought that feeling would happen to me till now. I am sure this will pass!!! How could we live without these fabulous critters in our lives?

Oh, Peggysue, my heart just breaks for you. Someone told me once that we never get over losing them, we just learn to live without them. The greatest honor we can give one that is gone is to bring another companion into our life. It shows they touched our heart so deeply that we cannot live without that love. What greater statement to our loving companions can there be.

Julie, whoever that person was that told you that quote was wise. We do learn to live without them and hopefully do their memory justice. Thank you for the lovely words.
