Agility Images... first go! - 10/05/11 06:40 PM
While photographing a fundraising event for a local rescue group I had the opportunity to shoot the Agility Demo that was going on. I had a blast and I think I am hooked! Wanted to share my first agility shoot!

Very nice. I'd be happy to have photos like that from a second shooter at one of my events!
Are you using actions of some sort to process them? The first one looks a little over done to me, but then again, I'm not on my calibrated machine at the moment.

No actions on these but I did process them. That one had so much direct sun on the fur that it shows a lot of highlights.
By overprocessed do you mean oversharp? Too saturated? Or perhaps I over-enhanced the highlights? They were mezmerizing to me when I was processing this at midnight last night... so I may have gone overboard!

Rachel,
I agree with Jim that these are very nice but do tend to look a little "hot" i.e. oversaturated.

Thank you for being specific. I really appreciate the CC! I will work on not "over-doing it" !

Oversaturated or not, I love the collie (or is it a shelty?)
Nice action and I know it's not simple to make these pictures.
Nr. 7 is my favourite.

Just a note on my original comment: photography is as much an art as it is a technical process. Images that are "too hot" for me may be just right for you. It all comes down to what you see and what you're trying to sell -- either conceptually or actually. It's kinda like HDR. To some, it's just too unnatural. For others, it enhances the image that is in their mind's eye. You have to decide what is right for your images. Back in film days -- and only a few of us remember that -- you'd pick a particular film because it had a unique color gamut that other films didn't: Kodachrome vs. Ektachrome for example. Kodachrome did a thing with blue skies that no other slide film could do. It saturated reds and yellows. It was awesome for certain types of photography. But not all. Today, we get to apply that "look" to our images in post-processing. And if a certain look works for you, then it is not wrong. This is your art. You can do whatever you want as long as it meets your personal objectives.

Well spoken Jim! I agree.
