Compact Flash Cards

Compact Flash Cards - 06/17/07 03:43 AM

Hey Everyone,

My wife and I are talking about updating our flashcards, and finally getting rid of all of our old 512 'emergency' cards. This would put our 1 gig CF cards into that category.

What are people using for cards? More importantly, how much are you paying?

I am using ATP Pro Max compact flash cards in 1GB & 2GB sizes. They are 150x cards and they are much faster than my older cards. 1GB = $35ea and 2 GB = $70ea. These are Alaska prices and are probably higher than you can get them for.

I see they are cheaper at My Digital Discount.

James,
I use Sandisk Extreme III 2 GB and 4 GB cards primarily as well as the 2 GB version of the Lexar Professional card (133X). The Lexar is currently available through Adorama for $84.

I stick with Sandisk and Lexar because I've never had one fail (knock on the side of my head for even writing that) while I've had failures from other brands. Plus, the Extreme III cards seem to work really well with my Canons.

Happy shopping.

I use Sandisk Extreme III also, they have come down in price quite a bit.

I use lexar 1gb, sandisk (extream $ II - 512-2GB), kingston (pros -4gig), and never have had a single card fail, even in sub zero. I also watch buy.com (best place to buy harddrives) or dpreview and often check this site (http://dealnews.com/memory/prices/Compact-Flash/19/4GB.html)
for the best deals. I just saw where adorama has 8 gig sandisk III for 84 bucks with a rebate the rebate ended May 31.

You should buy only as much card as you need. I dont have any of the brand new high speed cards, I sticking around 120x or lower, it's all I really need.

I have recently moved to 12gb Sandisk Extreme III cards. I found that there was a chance that I could fill my Extreme III 4gb cards during a morning or afternoon game drive.

I use the Lexar 2 gig CF cards 133x , I paid $57 back in March at a local shop . I did see on the Lexar web site they had some rebates for CF cards , check the site and see if they still offer any . I would like to try out those new 300x cards , they seem like a good deal .
