My photos - 05/06/08 09:45 AM

Most of my photos up to date is taken with a Nikon L3 Coolpix compact but now that I got this Nikon D60 DSC I'll use it more - but there is lots to learn before I think Im able to mixture w the different settings - Ive been told to begin w P on the preset function wheel or Auto.

This is one of my first photographs w the new camera, a Star Magnolia.

It was taken with the standard 1/4000 and 4.5

Re: My photos - 05/07/08 05:32 AM

Thanks, Peggy! Im looking fwd to discussing various aspects of photography - since in this more advanced kind Im quite the beginner. I have a few more photos of our garden taken at dusk.

Unfortunately, the course hosted by my photoclub has too few attending so Ill have learn by trial and error instead, which is pretty good too, but of course not as good as having a teacher telling you how to do things.

This is a 250 year old Chestnut tree

And this is an 250 year old dead Elm

And here you will find more on my homepage...taken with my litte compact, a Nikon L3 Coolpix.

Hi Grey Wolf,

Once you are feeling adventurous, I would advise switching to Aperture mode. It is still fairly automated, but you can control your depth of field by changing aperture.

I think that old elm has lots of potential.

Thanks, Jim. I suppose u mean A then on the multi-setting wheel - I chose the Aperture and let the shutterspeed be automatic.:)

Awesome color! I might be tempted to crop of the green from the bottom to give the yellow even more impact.

Re: My photos - 05/10/08 05:08 PM

thanks, Jim. Ive yet to aquire a program called Elements, so I cant crop it (funny to say that about a pic of crops, ), which Ive been promised by one of my Photoclub buddies.
Im gonna ask him again on Tuesday when we have our weekly meeting.

But in the Hp Image Zone I think Ive succeeded quite well after a fashion...

Re: My photos - 05/11/08 12:47 AM

I like the composition better this way. Some might say the horizon is too centered, but for this particular image, I don't think that is too much of a no-no.

Keep at it
