2014 Travel Plans?

2014 Travel Plans? - 01/22/14 01:55 AM

Hey Everyone,

I am curious what folks have planned for this year? Believe it or not, my year is already booked...but mostly towards the end of the year.

Dog Show - Feb 6-12
Yosemite Mini Loop - Early September (the 4 camps I did not do last year).
Yellowstone - Last Week in September/Early October
Great Smoky - 3rd Week in October (Thereabouts).

I hope I have time for Maine this year with Chanthee! That would be in Mid to Late July.

Not much planned for this year vs. last year. Have a small show in Miami in March; a wedding in CT in August; two Regional Specialties in October outside of Chicago. As for "recreational shooting", I have nothing planned outside of my own geographic area. Toying with the idea of going up to Chipley FL to the Seacrest Wolf Preserve for my birthday in April but we'll see how that goes. Talking to my ortho guy about a knee replacement and that has to happen when I don't have any shows to shoot so not quite sure when we'll be able to schedule that.

Wish I had your travel plans to Yellowstone but I don't think that's going to happen this year. Good luck with your plans.

Hey Jim,

Where will the wedding in Connecticut be?

One more thing - I hope you consider going to the preserve. I have been so excited about our relationship with WCS in Brewster.

James,
wedding is in Watertown CT. Linda has a lot of family still living the the Waterbury area.

Still planning to do that trip to Chipley to the Wolf Preserve. Will depend a bit on workload at that time but right now, it's on the calendar smile.

We're retired, so we're free to do a lot more traveling than many. Unfortunately, for the last couple of years, our travel has been pretty limited due to some health issues. Hopefully, those are behind us now -- for the most part, anyway.

We're starting off this year with a 30 day South American cruise from San Diego to Lima, Peru and back in March/April. We'll have port calls in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, and Peru. Unfortunately, I'm still not physically up to the challenge of either Galapagos or Machu Pichu yet. Those will have to wait until next year. It's too expensive and time limited to do it as a shore excursion anyway.

Also planning a camping trip to Redwoods NP, probably in early May. Stops in Death Valley and Yosemite along the way would only add a couple hundred miles to the trip. Finally, I'd like to visit Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks in the fall. Never been at that time of year.

I'm really looking forward to finally being able to get out and about & play with my new camera.

Jim,
good to hear that most of the physical issues are behind you. Get strong and enjoy your trips. I'd really love to do Machu Pichu. But until I get my knee replacement -- hopefully later this year -- that's not a possibility.

The rest of your travels sound really wonderful with lots of incredible photo ops. Hope to see your posts here. Actually, looking forward to sharing those trips with you vicariously.

Have fun. Savor every moment.

Really well said, Jim. Any of those places would be just great by me. smile
