Moving

Moving - 12/22/15 01:30 PM

Hi Folks,

Chanthee and I started the physical act of moving to a new apartment yesterday. We are scheduled for thiee days. My brother in law and his two kids came and helped us yesterdat.

Honestly, I was beat at the end of the day. Lol, everything I own has been placed in garbage bags. Somehow it seems appropriate.

The new apartment is beautiful, but it has been an enormous piece of work that has been consuming for the last few weeks. New flooring, painting, plastering, etc. it will be nice to settle down after it is over and write an article or two.

The bulk of the move was completed yesterday. Four days of moving. Yikes. I will definitely hire movers next time. If it had not been for my brother in law and his two kids, Chanthee and I would have been in a dutch.

James:

Congratulations on surviving a "Do-It-Yourself" move. I can certainly commiserate with you. While I was in the service, Petra and I moved 17 times during the first 10 years we were married. It is a miracle the marriage survived. Moving is difficult enough when you hire professional movers, but doing it yourself will test the strongest relationships.

They say the best way to find out who your real friends are is to announce you need help moving.

OMG, Jim, that is insane!! 17 times in 10 years???? That is a lot, even for military.

This is ur first move in 16 years...and the closets are full. Chanthee is off tomorrow and I am hopeful that she will knock off the last items.

We are both wiped out...but the new apartment will be beautiful when it is done.

So last night we finished moving the last of our two Manhattan Mini Storage accounts. It was a liberating experience. Of course, now we have about 20 unopened boxes sitting in different places in our living room, kitchen and bedrooms. Oh my.

We are moving on Friday 'for real.' We were hoping to get a rabbit behavioralist to help us integrate Victor and Harold (Victor wants to murderize Harold). We currently live in a world of plastic partitions, and I would like for the new apartment to look a little less like East Berlin circa 1962.

So, James, I imagine by now everything is unpacked and put away. wink

We had a rule, well actually it was Petra's rule (I broke it frequently) that if it wasn't unpacked by the next move you didn't really need it and she would pitch the whole box without opening it. blush

Now you can relax, right?

To make a long story short, we are 'moved' into the apartment. However, we are living between a world of boxes. I have gotten rid of about a quarter of the boxes....and I am hoping 2/3 by this weekend...lol, probably late Sunday.
