Trip to Little Rock Zoo

Trip to Little Rock Zoo - 03/28/08 01:29 AM

I have religiously visited this site since I have stumbled upon it, but haven't really been 'active' so to speak. Anyway, I guess my attempts will start with showing a few photographs I took at the Little Rock (Arkansas, US) zoo.

^I'm aware that this one is a bit light and soft in places. And I don't really like the composition much...

^ I love this one. I love the pose and sharpness (overly sharp?).

^ This one has to be my top favorite photograph that I took on this visit. I just love all the fall colors of the leaves. I like the contrast between the skin and the oranges.

^I'm on the fence with this one. I don't like the angle, but I love the eyes. The composition isn't really that great. And the lighting is far less than desirable.

Thanks for taking the time to view. Any thoughts? Honest opinions and critique very much welcome!
Sorry for the watermarks, by the way...unfortunately I've found they're necessary when distributing your artwork online.

Hey Harley,

My favorite shots are the 2nd and 3rd ones. Both are quite beautiful. I agree with you entirely on the eagle. While the eyes are breathtaking (one word or two??), the pose is not great, and the white feathers look burnt out on my laptop (though that may be the laptop). My gripe with the first shot of the tiger is that it's colors look off to me.

The reason why the colors probably look a bit off to you in the first one is most likely because it's a Clouded Leopard, not a tiger. So it's a really light brown/blond-ish color, rather than the vibrant orange of tigers
And now that I look at it, the white on the eagle does look a bit washed out...
Thank you for the compliment and opinions!

Welcome Hayley,

The image of the Caracal is lovely. They are one of the most beautiful cats. I think the sharpening is fine.

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting.
