Pileated Pair

Pileated Pair - 04/21/09 01:15 AM

My wife Kay and I were all set up in our SUV to shoot some ducks on a local pond from my homemade window support , when wouldn't you know it a pair of pileated woodpeckers came flying in and started working a big tree for ants right smack in from of the car, leaving me no choice but to shoot through the windshield , so this could probably be a little sharper but with these shy guys I take what I can get lol

You know I hadn't either even though I hunted in the woods most of growing life ,until I started hunting with a camera I think it just makes us more aware of whats around us .
Thanks

When those woodpeckers fly over you it is amazing how big they really are. Nice shot.

Great capture! We've seen them in our back yard, but it's very rare, and always just one at a time. It's amazing to see the pair together like that!
