I watched this Summer Tanager fly around picking insects from the bottoms of leaves and he gave me some nice moments.

Here he contemplates some slight movement:

Then he fluttered down and captured what looks like a small cranefly:

Gorgeous!

How did you post your picture here? I tried last night to copy a picture from Flickr to here and it did not work.

Nice. Great job on the reds - those are tough for digital sensors.

Durwood,

These are really beautiful.

I just couldn't resist posting this image I took this weekend at a classic car show after I saw the title of your thread. Although this isn't really the usual wildlife posted here, it is really red. This was the moniker on a classic Corvette Sting Ray.

I like the Tanager shots. The color looks right. Like the Sting Ray shots too. The first one features red that also looks (to my eye) very good, but the second shot of the entire vehicle (the red) looks a little orange-ish. I'm no color expert but a successful commercial photographer friend told me recently that, in his experience, Nikon (sensors, algorithms etc.) yield better reds than Canon and neither as good as his Hasselblad system.

I do agree that red is often a challenge, especially along the path that leads to a best quality print. Here is an example of some intense red flooding my Canon 1D series sensor:
