Wow, who would have known that Red Tailed Hawks are SOOOooo noisy!! It's a good thing they are awesome birds, because this racket in my back yard EVERY day, all day long has gotten old. If they would only let me get close, that would be a little restitution, but no, they stay just out of reach. These shots are heavy crops from my meager 6mp D70 with a 300/4.

Look at his Crop!

This treetop shot also used a Kenko 1.4TC. but still a heavy crop.

Here's mom having responded to the distress call of a strange human pointing a black thing at the baby.

Hey Jeff,

Nice birds in flight. Are these taken at Hawk Mountain?

Hey James, Thanks.

To answer your question, no these are all in my yard. This little guy is out there screaming right now. it has been going on for weeks, thank god for the Air-conditioning:) If the windows were open, I'd need medication by now:)

I should really try to find the nest some year and see if they are always returning to the same place. But they have been nesting in or near my yard for years. This chick seems a little more vocal and clingy then others. Usually its a week or two of screaming and the parents move on.

I wish they'd take it to Hawk Mountain, it's only 20 miles up the ridge:)
