These are supposed to be in west TN in swampy areas. I am on the opposite side of the state in a suburb. This is the second one we have found this spring

Julie,
great shots. Very nice selective focus.

Julie,
Nicely done. I really like that first one. Looking at the dust, I am assuming that these are rather small?

It was about an 1.5in long. The second shot was done on my husband's hand(he is wearing gloves) If that gives any scale

Both nice shots with good use of DOF...but I really like the first one with the reflection.

Great images, Julie! The DOF, was this done in photoshop or in camera? Which lens were you using for this?

I used a 50mm f2 macro, with the first at f4.5 and the second at 2.8 The photoshopping I did was levels, a warming filter(they came out too cool for my taste) and bumped the saturation a hair. Then I resized and sharpened.

I have a love for shallow dof, I am not sure why, maybe it is just novel to me

Hey Julie,

I do much the same thing in my pet portraiture. I love to have the parts that I am working on in focus but having everything else shallow.

Great work!
