Spruce Grouse

Spruce Grouse - 12/13/10 02:41 PM

Here's one from my Churchill Workshop last June. We had several of these beauties one day in the forest. Trying to get them to sit still long enough for a photo was frustrating. But this one finally cooperated. I believe the pink stains on the birds face are from it eating some type of berries? All I know is I can hardly wait to get back up to Churchill in 2011

Cheers!

Beautiful shot. I've heard grouse drumming several times and once had a glimpse of one but never had a good look at a live grouse.

Hey Glenn,

Was this in Churchill Canada? By some chance, did you see any Polar Bears? I know that they typically don't come down until much later (i.e. October).

Great shot Glen and the background compliments it wonderfully.

This was indeed up in Churchill. But it was in June when the Polar Bears are not around.
