Yes, I believe that is a crayfish.

That is so amazing Scott! What a great shot. I love Loons. I hear them a lot on the ponds and lakes up here, but rarely see them.

Beautiful shot, those dark colors can be hard to capture.

Scott what equip do you like to use? Your telephoto must be expensive glass.

I shot this using my Nikon D300, Nikon AF-S 200-400mm f/4 VR + 1.4x teleconverter. I prefer to shoot with my full frame D700, but for this shot I needed the extra reach I get with my cropped sensor D300.
