I love the common birds - everyone ignores them but they really are very cute and well worth taking photos of!

I'd like to share these as I took them today when I braved the slightly rainy weather to go to our Botanical Gardens. Considering the lousy weather I am quite happy with how these turned out.

Hey Tess,

Nice shots. My favorite is the third of the series, though I think they are all good.

I have a real hard time photographing birds. They see me and they just bolt, LOL. I think it is because I am sometimes a bit impatient when I am walking and they see me and take a b-line to the direction I am not in.

Agreed Nat - and I thought it was going to be reasonably easy to get a good series on Indian Mynahs. Wrong, they are little bully-boys with attitude, but still cleverly keep a safe distance. So far all my mynah shots are in the "bird in a landscape" category.

(James that was a bit hard on the pigeons, go on, put out a perch for them).

I've tried the Mynahs too PC....they are very difficult. I can't get close to them at all, even the ones at Fawkner Park where they are used to people. Blackbirds are also quite tricky and starlings as well.

Probably the easiest "common" bird to get close to is the bell bird....I walked right up to one accidently at the botanical gardens the other week and it just kept eating and staring me straight in the eye like I was nothing.
