Florida Birding

Florida Birding - 03/21/11 12:20 PM

I spent a few days in Citrus County, FL and did a lot of birding last week. One memorable morning was a quite ride by boat on the Chassahowitzka River in Homosassa where there were Herons everywhere. We even had a manatee come up to our boat and we got to pat it. It was a very cool experience.

First image is a Green Heron getting all territorial. He was magnificent.

Hey Lesley,

That second photo is absolutely beautiful. I have been told that nature loves patterns and rarely does something just once. Very nice!

Having spent my childhood living in and exploring southwestern Florida, I really enjoyed seeing your photos and the familiar friends of my youth. Thanks for posting these images, I too especially like the second shot.

Great shots, Leslie. You got the skimmers at just the right moment. Nice B'sIF!

And the heron chick sure is beautiful. It looks like it is aware of what a formidable bird it will grow into.

Love the color on the green heron, and the symmetry in the second one. Very nice.
