Birth of a butterfly

Birth of a butterfly - 09/03/11 06:26 PM

I mentioned this in the current challenge when I entered a photo but my children and I found and cared for 4 monarch caterpillars until they emerged and then released them back into the wild. Yesterday the last one emerged and I was able to photograph it. That part of the process takes less than a couple of minutes and is very easy to miss as I discovered with the other butterflies smile. I sat and stared at this chrysalis for 2 hours so that I wouldn't miss it. Here are a few of my shots smile.
