Late Season Marsh Mallow

Late Season Marsh Mallow - 10/02/11 01:16 PM

I took this image at the salt marsh of Watch Hill, Fire Island National Seashore in New York. This was an experiment, so I'd like some of your input/critiques/suggestions. The image was kind of flat, so I used a sharpening technique that I recently read about, wherein the author suggested pumping up the unsharp mask for dramatic effect. I did that, though admittedly, I don't think I went overboard. smile

Diane,
at web-resolution, this does not look over-sharpened to me. Nice image. For sharpening flexibility, I use Photokit Sharpener and it offers both capture sharpening and output sharpening in addition to a wide variety of creative sharpening effects. Some images require a big tweak and some don't require any sharpening even from RAW files.

Hey Diane,

i agree with Jim. For web presentation, it definitely does not look overly sharpened (or flat).

Nope, I think you did well with just the right amount of sharpening. Also, You caught the light perfectly on the subject.
