Io Moth

I discovered four of these spiky guys outside my back door yesterday evening. The shots aren't very good...I was rushed, but hopefully I will be able to update with pics of the adult Io Moth because they are beautiful!

This one I found walking on my brick wall..


So I gave him a leaf and he immediately started chowing down lol

So I went out to investigate again last night and 2 of them are still on the same bush. One has started to make his cocoon in it (YAY! This excites me! ) I hope I get to witness him coming out. I looked it up online and says they may stay in their cocoons for months depending on the weather. I got a few shots of him in his leaf fort...




This one is a good bit smaller than the one starting his cocoon. I hope he decides to do his in the same bush.
