Spot & Stalk a bald eagle

Spot & Stalk a bald eagle - 12/12/11 04:54 PM

I figured it was about time to document a spot and stalk.

1. Where I found him with my binoculars.

2. Zoomed in a little to make it easier to see him in the tree.

3. A long circle around him about a two mile trip in the camera wagon and then in a little closer.

4.

5.
The light was terrible I was using my hand to try and get the sun out of the shot.

Hey Roger,

I like the first two in particular. The composite gives a real frame of reference.

Thanks James, I am practicing for when the snow runs the elk down off the mountains.

I think that should be really cool. Do you have ideas on what you want to do already, I take it?

When I find some fresh tracks and I know they are moving I will pick a spotting area and take a photo from the spotting area and then work my way closer to get the closeup shot. Over the years I have done this and so far it works about one time out of 7 or 8 tries.
