Gull over Sunset Waters

Gull over Sunset Waters - 02/04/12 02:26 PM

Yesterday after work, with about 15 minutes left of enough daylight to shoot, I drove straight to the bay with the intention of photographing a bird, very likely a gull, in silhouette against the sunset sky. But, the water was so beautiful, I chose to shoot down instead of up. One of my results....

This was shot handheld at 200mm, using my favorite lens, the Sigma 70-200mm, at ISO 640, f/9, and 1/500s, slightly cropped for comp to move the bird from the center of the image.

Diane,
gorgeous image! I love both the composition and the incredible colors in this photo. Good choice. I love it.

Agreed, it is a lovely photo. I don't mind the watermark - having said that, I usually blend them in a bit more than that.
