Florida Soft Shell Turtle

Florida Soft Shell Turtle - 04/28/12 01:04 PM

Yesterday, as I was hiking through the Orlando Wetlands Park, I came upon a Florida Soft Shell Turtle. She was a pretty big girl at around 30 inches and about 40 lbs. and she was contemplating her walk from one side of the trail to the other. Here's a side view of the young lady.

And then a shot from directly in front of her. Love her eyes and that snoot.

BTW, these guys can be pretty aggressive and they have a pretty healthy bite as well. So, I was delighted to take these shots from about 10 feet away. My wife, Linda, asked if I was concerned about being attacked. I responded by telling her this was a turtle and not an alligator and I felt pretty sure I could out-run a turtle smile.

Thanks to both Gary and Roger. Roger, you might indeed be humble but your opinion on photography is very much valued smile.
