What type of bird

I saw it Saturday at a small lake in Kansas.
Could it be a young Blue Heron?
I looked in a couple of bird books, but was not sure

It could be. He is darker than the pictures I could find, but he could be in a different stage or my exposure?

It is definitely neither a blue not a night. Looks like a green heron to me.

Definitely a Green Heron ... We have numerous Green Heron out here around Albuquerque and further south.

I have been walking to and around that lake for years. Last weekend was the 1st time I have ever seen a Green Heron by it.
