spotting scopes as a long lens - 01/18/07 04:31 PM

Does anyone have experience with using a spotting scope with an adapter for an slr? I saw someone using this method in Glacier with a telescope and he seemed to have success. thought this might work with wildlife photos. Any help would be great.

While I have never used a spotting scope as a long lens, I think you will find severe image degredation, though I guess that it is an option. However it is one of last resort,IMO.

Try one of these 600mm f/4 prime instead!

Go for a good telephoto - best you can afford and one better. Then you can be camera poor like we are!
