Howdy gang - lots of old familiar faces, and quite a few unfamiliar ones! Been a while since I've posted, and miss the fray. . .and from the near 60 minutes I've just enjoyed going through past posts, I've certainly missed the photos!

A few for you here - most illustrate editorial content, and they finally went to press with Pocket Pups, which I didn't write, but contributed photos to (I'm just overjoyed it's pink, really - you've no idea the amount of sh** my pals gave me).

Taking a stab at horses tomorrow, wish me luck - will post results if it works out.

They've posted a link to a story I put together for Studio Photography magazine, too - I can't stand to read it, but if you're WAY bored: http://www.imaginginfo.com/print/Studio-Photography/Working-Like-a-Dog/3$2295

Cheers (and a tip 'o the hat, James!).

These are all fantastic Chris. How did you do the lighting on #2? The stressed look definitely worked for the last one lol very cute. Good work...and great article! I enjoyed that! And I have to know...what DID happen to your Tenba bag...:)

Hi, Dee Dee - and thanks! The lighting on #2 was two remote-fired off-camera SB flash units, one to camera-left for the light-sucking black dog, and one high and right for the fellow. For mood, I gelled them both with CTO and set the camera to match, letting the surrounding areas retain a blue cast.

Ohhhhhh the Tenba bag...well, let's just say that breeding studs, when en masse and unattended, mistake camera bags for...I can't even type it. And I didn't clean it. Just got a new one.

Love your horse work! Had a mixed day with some on Friday, finding that they're even harder to get to sit still and pose than a pup!

Thanks for the explanation Chris, it really makes a great effect. I was not yet familiar with CTO gels, so just looked it up and learned something new!

LOL I'm almost sorry I asked about the bag. Not quite the answer I had expected LOL! Makes for a good story though, eh!

Did you get your horse shots? Would love to see a sampling!

Something new is good! Lots of great stuff to play around with for only a few pennies, especially gels and white balance. If you're ever bored, check out www.strobist.com and pore over the archives - the site is brilliant - free photo school with stuff like that.

Oh yeah, nothing silences a crowd like the Tenba Bag story. I assure you.

I got SOME horse shots, I just don't know if I like 'em! Had more luck with the human owner:

Whoa. (pun intended). That shot is classic, your lighting and composition is amazing.

Would still like to see some of the horses!

Funny, when I googled the TCO gel, it brought up strobist and I bookmarked it, looks like a great place to learn.

All I can say is I'll be watching my bags a lot closer now LOL.
