Just wondering if any other forum member has tried out the Blurb book publishing approach or any others i.e. Pikto, MPIX, WHCC, etc.

I've been gathering the stuff I want to put into a book but have not as yet actually put one together. I have a wedding album that I'm doing for a client that I also want to put into book form for the mothers of the bride/groom and the wedding party. I'm curious about people's experiences in self-publishing.

Used Blurb on a 56 page book and thought that the end result was outstanding and I have been in the newspaper business for many years. Pages were printed on great quality paper, images came out clean and crisp, and the software that they gave was easy to follow. Layouts were good but you could do your own layout in CS2 and place it on any page. Very happy with it and will use it probably about once a year for new projects.

Jim,

I've used My Publisher to create three books. It works pretty well and they have a pretty good assortment of styles. I haven't used Blurb so I can't comment. To tell you the truth the reason I have used My Publisher is because they ran a couple of 50% off sales that saved me a bit of change. I was happy with the overall quality of the prints, paper and binding.

They are here

Geo,
thanks for the link. I'm tempted to print up a book using 3 or 4 of the top publishers and compare them. Let me know if folks would be interested in hearing about those results.
