Went out to the Great Salt Lake Sunday morning hoping to shoot some more owls but didn't see a one. But got lucky anyway as there were two Ermine running around and hunting. Man are they fast little buggers!

He looks so proud here, "look what I caught"!

Jim,

Very nice. I would skip the owls anytime to catch these images. Is that prey a muskrat? It's almost as big as the ermine.

Again, I have to say I will have to come up to SLC for a shooting trip. Definitely looks like I'll have to bring the long underwear though .

Hey Jim,

Those are just spectacular! All four are honestly of top quality. You had not only a beautiful subject doing what they do best in the wild, but you framed the ermine perfectly. If that were one of my cats, I would be yelling, "Put that down!!!!" LOL. Oh well, we all have got to eat. :P

Sincerely,
James

Great shots, i especially like the personality of the second photo. What distance was the ermine at and what lens did you use. Good DOF and colors. Don Elmendorf

Great pics of those stoats.
Looks like he caught a vole?
Great thing about those guys is that that little patch of black tail is somehow responsible for their survival against the Hawks. Stoats that were released with all white tails had much lower survival rates. Strange fact.
Those are truely remarkable shots.

Remarkable captures. I love the second shot. I looks like it's trying to do the hula.
