Lots of moisture in the air plus a fair amount of California real estate from the fire out there made for a so-so photo op. The real challenge was finding the right spot in the foothills west of Denver for a guaranteed unobstructed view of the moonrise. This very slick program is a great option. There are others but this one combines information, maps and ways to predict moon/sun rise/set from behind mountains etc. http://stephentrainor.com/tools

Very pretty, I like the blanket of haze. Did you do something to enhance/enlarge the size of the moon?

Thanks, Diana. No, same everything - just two different exposures (blended to taste, as they say).

Very nice, Buddy. The moodiness of the image is enhanced by the mist/smoke in the air. What did you use to get a 910 mm lens?

Jim - Good question!
It's actually 1120mm
That is a Canon 1D MKII, 1.4 extender, 500mm L IS - 1.6X1.4X500=1,120
I have no idea where I got 910 from. Maybe I'd better fix that.

Here's the corrected version, with a little extra info.

Buddy,
I believe the 1D MKII has a 1.3 crop factor not 1.6 like the XXDs. Still, a lot of detail for all that glass. Nice shot.

Yes, that is correct. 1.3X1.4X500=910mm
Sorry for the confusion! Too many cameras...
