Before sunrise, over Western Lake at Grayton State Park, FL. Some friends of mine and I spent a few days on the Emerald Coast in Florida in early November. The weather was beautiful. We got up early one morning, made some coffee, and piled in a van to drive to this spot which we had scouted out the day before.

Hi Preston,

This is a pretty excellent composition! I don't think either you or Jim should be able to post these things. It makes the rest of us look lazy. :P

Preston,

Just beautiful.

Talk about coinkydink. I had just finished processing this sunrise shot taken at Sacramento Wildlife Refuge last Monday, when I happened to see your pre-sunrise shot here.

Preston & Geo,
beautiful shots. I'm envious that I can't get out of here and do some early day shots -- puppy duty.

Preston, what did you think of the area of the Panhandle that you were in. Were there decent locations to shoot? How about some sunset shots? After all, you were on the Gulf which should have provided some really nice late day color.

Jim

Thank you for your comments James/Geo/Jim.

George, love the sunrise...it feels very peaceful...love the ducks and the reflections.

Jim, the Panhandle is definitely a place I'd go back to. If I did much hiking I'd like to borrow a Rottie though, I have a little Gator phobia since I got chased by one on a golf course once.

The thing about that part of Florida is that you can shoot sunrises and sunsets, and add interest if you wish with parts of the beach leading into the shot. I flew in and didn't have my own car so much of the area went unexplored, but there are many state parks and lagoons and sand dunes to see. Lots of big birds flying up and down the coast.

Here is a shot of the colors when you get a few clouds in the sky. The colors and shapes change so much you can be there for 45 minutes getting good and different stuff. This is After Sunset:

At the risk of belaboring the point, I just couldn't resist keeping this going a little bit more with a sunset pic at the SWR the night before.
