Spent some time in my backyard this morning. This is just one of the many visitors I had.

Wonderful image! Nice composition, dof control, bokeh, color and detail ...plus the creature cooperated and took a nice long sip from 'the cup' so you could catch behavior that delights us humans, since we're so hopelessly prone to anthropomorphizing.

EXIF recorded Canon EOS 30D, f2.8, 75mm, ISO 400, 1/500sec., action program and processed in Adobe Photoshop Elements. Hope you don't mind my posting this. It's so educational to look at a beautiful photograph and contemplate how it was made. Lovely!

Thank you for your comments, Buddy. Of course I don't mind the EXIF being posted. I had been shooting in the action mode since most of the butterflies this morning were dancing around my garden and more shy than the monarch. The flower the butterfly is on, is a host plant to the monarch. Every year they lay eggs and I get to photograph the colorful caterpillars.

Emmy,
beautiful shot of a gorgeous subject. Nice job technically. Even nicer artistically.
