mathew surely is a cute one - and your pictures are so very good - excellent, thank you for sharing him with us - and he knows just how to pose for his shots too
Thank you for the reply. I am very happy with my pet photos this year. Honestly, I think they are better than most of my nature/wildlife shots...certainly when comparing them with some of the really good shots in the Best of '05 thread.
These were lit very differently than my other shots. Everything here was about controlling shadows as much as possible. It is so much harder when your backdrop is in two dimensions. I still used my two flash set-up (I had debated adding a third). One flash was bounced off of the cieling to push down the shadows. The other flash was diffused and fired at a 2:1 ratio.
Thank you all for the comments. I was very pleased with Matthew's shots. He is NOT the easiest of my beasties to pose - but with a bit of patience, we got him there. I am eager to try some cats that are not part of the family.
Having been doing dogs recently, I can say that they are such a different sort of creature from a cat. In some respects much easier but in others more difficult. i.e. the cats don't want to do what you want them to...so you have to work around them. A dog seems eager to please - except that they don't speak our same language lol.
