Hi Janet,

When you say that you are using the lights as slaves off of the Elph, how exactly are you doing it? Firing them optically off of the camera using the Elph's on board flash?

The trick to getting the exposure right is to compare the shot to your histogram. The LCD display is often wrong (in my experience).

Cheers
James

PS The last shot is a great pose, though the guy looks like he could use a bit of a brush. :P

Your cresteds have beautiful furnishings!!

These are much better as far as to the height you took them at, but, you need to back up quite a ways. You are at 5.8mm on your camera. Basically right on top of them.

Helmi Flick(look at her interview on here) used to shoot professionally with an Olympus 3mp point and shoot. Her posing and lighting were what set her photos apart, not the camera.

Back up some and use your camera's zoom vs being very close to them

james, i am sorry, i meant that i was not using them as slaves. is there a way to use them as slaves if there is no connection port to connect them?

as far as the brush, i know. i am more trying to get the lighting down right now. that is my biggest problem. i don't have the proper set up (no connection to the lights) so, i am having a hard time figuring out how to still use them. :/

That's a good pose on the ferret. I know just how hard it is to get them to hold still, or to catch them at the right moment.
