Actually he/she was spitting out wood shavings from a nest he/she was building inside a tree stump. He/She would go into the tree hole then come out with a mouthful of shavings and spread it around to different areas to confuse predators. Very neat. Chickadees are very smart birds.
Not sure how something like this can be so interesting and repulsive at the same time, LOL. It is like looking underneath a band-aid. :P Great captures.
