Any trip is great when you can see one of these guys close enough to photograph.

That's Great Bill,
I was there last October and spotted them in the Lamar Valley, but it was late
in the day and I didn't have time to hike out to them. Were you hiking when you got the shot of that one? I'm always concerned about hiking alone at long
distances from the vehicle etc. Bears can sometimes be startled and can be
a problem.

nice fined, it is great when you can get close to a wolf. Looking at the lighting, you did good to capture as much detail as you did with a black dog on white snow - thank goodness for photoshop ay!

BTW, check your http:/tangoway link, it wont work with just one slash.

Tony,

Thanks for pointing out my url was wrong. No telling how long that would have gone un-noticed. The lighting was a little harsh, but, you're right, Shadow/Highlight is my friend.

Dale,

My wife spotted this guy just off the road, between Norris and Canyon. I stood up through the sun roof and shot from the car. I still can't believe we got this close and I was able to capture an image or two, however ordinary they might be.

Hey Bill,

You are lucky indeed! This is one of those times when I say - I would be just so happy to have the experience, even if i did not have the camera. Congrats on such a find and capture. Did you use fill on this guy, or was it natural?

James

James,

I didn't have time to grab a flash, though it might have been a good idea. There was plenty of natural light, but the exposure was skewed a bit by the snow.
