The first thing I noticed with this photo was the eyes of the larger beagle and how they match the mustard color of the comfy chair. There is something very relaxing about the photo... I am not sure if it is the calm doggie visages or the homespun chair they are sitting on, but the photo brings up pleasant feelings.
I noticed the reflection on the left armrest. Are you using a stroboframe to get the flash a little further from the lens? I use the wireless Nikon flash system which lets me take the flash completely off the camera. I love it.
Another interesting thing was that Blue's eyes seemed to always have red-eye. Even in full sun, it seemed that his pupils didn't contract and he would have that red-eyed glow.
