This is a pic I took of Langfield Falls in Washington last year. Not far from where Roman lives. Just wanted to share.

OOPS looks like I put this in the wrong forum. I'm new here and wasn't sure which forum I should put this in.

Kent,

Thanks for the shot and for the introduction in the other forum. It will be nice to have your participation. I have participated in several other forums- mostly DGRIN and DPreview - but I always come back here because of the respect everyone shows each other and the expertise. You will find that this forum moves slower than the others - I expect because it is smaller.

This looks like a nice shot - but at least on my monitor it is pretty small so hard to see. Can you post it again larger?

Thanks Dave.
I'm not sure how big I should post. Don't want to be out of line. But here it is in a larger version.

Kent,

I agree that these images are a little too small to really appreciate. Alot of us these days are using 24"+ monitors at high res and this 400 pixel high image looks pretty small. I find that 600-800 pixel high images work pretty well for me.

I uploaded a 722 pixel version, but for some reason it is only 600 pixels tall. Hmm

Kent,

Thanks - this is better. It is much easier to see now. You really nailed the exposure of the water - and came out with a nice texture of the flowing waterfall.

I have never photographed Washington - so would like to get out there sometime.

Thanks Dave,
I was really surprised when we got back to my brothers house and I took a look at this shot. The vantage point I took this from was less than ideal. There was a huge fallen tree in my way, so I put my tripod all the way down, closed the aperture down stood the tripod on the side of the fallen tree. It was a real stretch to reach the shutter release. I turned the camera a few degrees at a time and took several shots. I had no way to know what the composition was going to be. I got a shot that is one of my favorites.

I hope to get up there again soon and visit my Brothers and make them take me on another photo journey. They love showing my places they have found. Saves me a lot of time trying to find good photo ops.

Kent,

The largest version that I see is only 400 pixels high. Below is an image that is 800 pixels high (900 with the frame) as an example.

On another point, is there a reason you are using gif compressed images? Gifs get great compression because they only have a 256 color pallette. This works well for simple web graphics but you are really limiting your images with this format. Jpeg uses a 16 million color pallette which gives a much better web rendition of a photo.

Don't know why I saved that as a Gif. Must have had a senior moment lol. Here is a jpg. saved at 800 pixels high. Lets see if it uploads that way.
