We had to put my oldest dog, Rufus, to sleep on Wednesday and that was a very emotional ordeal. He was ready to go and I can be thankful he was happy, healthy and felt good up until the last week. I knew he was not doing well on Sunday, but, it was evident by Tuesday that it was time. The vet asked we try fluids and see if that made a difference and it didn't, so he was put to sleep peacefully at home in his bed.
I have a blog post about it and a slideshow tribute http://juliepoole.com/rufus.php

I had a portrait session right after, which was tough. The clients haven't seen the photos yet, so, I'll post those after their viewing sessions.

Yesterday, I did a newborn baby and then, a whippet session of a dog that is not long for this world either. I also did photos of the lady's puppies

I am truly sorry for your loss. No matter how we try, it still hurts. The dedication is truly a lovely tribute. It looks like your children really had fun with this pup. May the hurt end and the memories comfort you.

Julie,
I'm so very sorry about Rufus. All I can say is that I truly understand. As long as they don't suffer for too long. That's all we can hope for.

The portraits posted here are very nice -- as usual. My favorites are the two with the lady and the one with the chair.

Here's hoping you and your family adjust to the loss quickly.

Jim

I'm really sorry Julie, way too many pooches leaving us lately.

Julie,
I am so sorry about your Rufus. He looked like such a great dog. Your tribute to him was wonderful. We lost our 14 year old Brittany on Aug. 20th and I am still grieving and crying a little every day. It is so hard. May your happy memories of Rufus keep you going.

Diane

I feel terrible for you. Only a true animal lover can undertstand the grief of losing a loved one. The important thing is; the quality of life and love you obviously gave your Rufus when he was alive.
