Hello, people.

I normally hang out on the Fred Miranda and DPReview Nikon forum, but I found this place the other day and I see quite a few familiar names here. (Hi Sander, Hi Roman!)

I do mostly wildlife, small birds in paticular, but I'll shoot about anything that comes my way.

I am a retired pilot living in the Texas Hill Country (Kerrville)

Here are a couple of introductory pictures:

I hope to learn and make new acquaintances.

Hi, Ed, welcome!

Good to have you on the forum! Very nice introductory images!

We spent the night at a Best Western in your hometown, Kerrville, on a trip out West in '04! Nice place!

Regards,

Dick:)

Every day is a good day.

Hi Ed,

Welcome aboard! I like both the shots that you showed. Is that a fox in the second shot?

Thanks!
James

Hi, folks. Thanks for the warm welcome.

The second shot is of a Texas Gray Fox. Unlike the Red Fox, the gray fox in native to North America. It is the only fox that regularly climbs trees.

I shot this picture down by my pond last summer.

Hi Ed,

welcome to the forum, I'm a newbie here myself! I like the Gray Fox and remember you posting it on dpr, didn't you use an automated infrared setup for that shot? It worked great!

Hi Sander. Glad to see you here.

Are you still in the US or you home again in the Netherlands?

Yes indeed, I used a homemade motion detector rig for this picture.

If anyone is interested, a description and a link to instructions for it can be found at

Hi Ed,

I'm back home, behind the desk I'm afraid. I was in the US for just a month last year, I had to save up all free days I could get and I didn't spend money for a year to be able to afford it
For now, I have to choose Holland for my pictures, or somewhere closeby.
I've planned a short visit to Turkey (cheap) this march, to see the Solar Eclipse.

Cheers, Sander Meurs http://portfolio.sanderfoto.nl
