Meet Gus. The rescue actually asked me to take a photo of him next to someone to show just how small he is.

He comes up to about 15 inches and that's full grown.

Cute little bugger too.

He's adorable! I can't keep looking at these rescue shots, I have plenty of my own dogs, but . . .just look at that face!

Maybe he is a pure staffy bull. He looks it and is the right size http://www.akc.org/breeds/staffordshire_bull_terrier/index.cfm

Jim,
looks like a Staffordshire Bull Terrier to me -- blue in fact. Great dogs! Friends of our had one and we just loved that powerful little girl. 30 lbs of pure muscle and joy.

They can be tough on other dogs if not properly socialized but they are great dogs and wonderful family companions.

Nice shot of a very nice dog.

Jim

He very well could be. I don't know his history yet, but I'll be doing another shoot for them soon and I'll ask.

I sorta like the little guy, which tends to get us in trouble

Edit: His profile is up on the site now and does list him as a Staffy. Oh, and I made him too tall in my first post:

Quote:

Age: Approx. 4 years
Gender: Male
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Size: 35 lbs
Dog Friendly: Yes
Cat Friendly: Unknown
See me at: Fairfax/Burke

There is not a description that would describe how great Gus is. He is a wonderful little guy who promises to keep you entertained. He talks to you, he plays games with you and he will watch TV with you. He loves to go for walks and makes little snorting sounds along the way as he investigates everything. He is a definite head turner when people see him - he's that cute. Something about him just makes you want to smile. While he weighs about 35 lbs, he stands no taller than 12". He is very short and compact. If you would like to meet Gus, please complete a no obligation application to get the process started.

Jim,
I would not bet on him being cat-friendly -- Staffy Bulls tend to have pretty high prey-drive. So, unless he was brought up with cats, he's likely to think they are play toys. Not good for a cat!

Keep in mind that as cute as they look -- and they are adorable -- they are also very tough. The breed was originally created to bait bulls and bears. Later, when dog fighting was popularized in England, the dog was used in that venue. Over the past few decades, the breed has been removed from the dog-fighting arena and has become an outstanding family dog with courage, loyalty and great affection for people, especially children.

People adopting this type of dog need to know that it is both tough and lovable. They need owners of equal fortitude.

Jim

Thanks Jim,

I don't get any say in what gets written for the profiles, but having adopted two of our four rescues from this group, they have been very good about "straight talk" during the interviews and home checks.
