This is our most recent addition to the family. Mahkayla came from a rescue in Tennesse that was being closed down. Mahkayla had a rough start but is going to do fine. As she still has the Mange, she does not normally photograph well. However, I was able to get some solid shots of her playing in the snow that I thought were quite flattering for her.

These were different for me as I am usually shooting the beasties with a backdrop and lights. This was done at ISO 400 using AI Servo (Canon's AF Tracking)...normally I shoot in 'One Shot Mode' as I don't have a lot of brides bolting down the isle.

More snow than I'd have cared for, personally - especially when trying to shovel it!

Great shots - love the backstory, too - so great to read about a rescued pet and see him prancing about enjoying himself!

Priceless! And kudos to you for rescuing her. (my girl is a rescue as well...they seem to appreciate it just a bit more!)She is a gorgeous dog and I'm sure she will really bloom with you. She looks very fun loving, great shots of her!

James,
great dog and great shots. I also have a rescue and I have tremendous respect for others that take on this responsibility. Mahkayla is a lucky girl!

Thank you very much for the compliments all. I had debated adding a small bit of flash to these shots but went natural light. While I am fairly pleased with the shots, I do wish there was a bit more 'punch' to them...while keeping the image looking natural.

I think they are great. The husky love of snow really shines through. Rufus(my husky mutt) LOOOOOVES the snow. The whippet thinks its cold

I have never met a dog that did not like the snow. Mahkayla takes it to a new extreme though. Unfortunately, the snow is gone as quickly as it came and there will be no more snow pictures. Her skin condition is still to noticable for me to start doing any sort of photo work with her.

James
