I haven't used it in years, yet I'll still miss it.

Yes, but, Preston, you can get digital filters to make your images look like they were taken with Kodachrome. So, other than Paul Simon, who's going to miss it?

I just tried it, I can't get my scanner to fit inside my old Minolta. I must be doing something wrong.

Hey Guys,

This story was picked up by NPR yesterday on my way home. I have not shot a roll of film in over 10 years. Even on our honeymoon (1999), we brought both film and a digital camera (by that time, I was on my 3rd one). The process for me though has not changed, and I think that is the important part (outside of the waiting, of course). The fact that Kodak discontinued Kodachrome does not really have an impact on me - outside of the symbolic one, of course. I guess that was Jim's point at some level.

Kodawhat?

LOL...yes I used to shoot film. It is just amazing how well digital has come along.

The days of appreciating a certian color of somthing is gone....any "look" can be replicated.

But for some I can understand the mourning of the passing of yet another film friend.

Having not liked it when I used it, I will not be saddened as much as I am for Polaroid SX70 or any of the polaroid products. The only thing I do miss it the longevity that the past film industry gave us. Our storage of digital still scares me. Think I will go scan some images and play Paul's song.

Roman,
ironically, I was going through some old slides -- and I do mean OLD slides -- and the ones that have held up the best are the Kodachrome slides. The Ektachrome slides have all faded a bit.

And then there are those Kodachrome skies!!! The colors you could get with Kodachrome and a polarizing filer !!
